The organisation PRS For Music released their list of the 50 most played Christmas songs in the past year.

The Pogues' 'Fairytale of New York' tops the list, still popular 25 years after its 1987 release, and is closely followed by Mariah Carey's 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'.

Also making the top five is Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' The 80s hit has been re-recorded twice, and the original version features a host of stars including Bono, Paul McCartney and David Bowie.

Wham!'s 'Last Christmas' makes it in at number four, and Harry Reser's 1930s hit 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' rounds out the top five.

The only contemporary act to make it into the top 25 is Coldplay, with 'Christmas Lights', although The Darkness are at 39 with 'Christmas Time - Don't Let The Bells End'.
