Chesney Hawkes & the one hit wonders STILL living off their only hit

Who else would have made Hastings angry?

  • Chesney Hawkes is best known for his hit 'The One and Only' - which was released in 1991. However, over ten years later and he's still around, hitting the headlines this week for being chosen to turn on the Christmas lights in Hastings. Unsurprisingly, Hastings don't really want him.

One hit wonders are nothing new, and we've seen a good few of them this year - but even if a single isn't necessarily a one hit wonder, it can still be difficult to replicate that success.

This week, the good people of Hastings took offence at one of the most celebrated one-hit-wonder of all time, Chesney Hawkes, for not being famous enough to open their festive ice rink. They wanted Mick Jagger.

Let's be honest; the public are never going to care about follow-up singles as much as they cared about 'Call Me Maybe', 'Somebody That I Used To Know', 'Gangnam Style' and even 'We Are Young'.

But there are some stars who, once they've had that initial taste of fame, just won't let it go - even if it means living off the remnants of the fame they gained from that one hit. What exactly has Peter Andre sung, apart from 'Mysterious Girl'? And why, exactly, is it still 'Chico Time'?

Take a look through our gallery to find the stars who refuse to burn out - and definitely won't fade away (however much we'd like them to)...
