The 12 biggest worst albums of 2012: Bieber, Chris Brown and more

Big albums which maybe didn't deserve the sales

  • Alanis Morrissette - Havoc & Bright Lights: Despite the tragic misunderstanding of what 'ironic' means, Morissette's first international album Jagged Little Pill was one of the most iconic albums of the 90s. More than 15 years on and she offered up Havoc & Bright Lights for our listening pleasure. Unfortunately 12 songs in celebration of Morissette's motherhood and spirituality proved less interesting, with critics likening the lyrical content to teenage poetry.

We've had a fairly mixed bag when it comes to album releases in 2012.

We've seen some young turks seizing the crowns of their respective genres and taking music in new and exciting directions, and we've seen some old masters return to the fray to remind us why we ever considered them that great in the first place.

But we've also had some fairly poor attempts at music from around the globe. For the most part these travisties have been swiftly dealt with by the record buying public and music critics alike.

But there have been a few that have soared to the top of the charts despite being collections of boring, uninteresting and, in some cases downright offensive songs.

Gigwise takes a look at 12 albums that did well in the charts, but really shouldn't have.
