The 12 biggest worst albums of 2012: Bieber, Chris Brown and more

Big albums which maybe didn't deserve the sales

  • One Direction - Take Me Home: All that X Factor cash and you think they could have come up with something better. A Clash rip-off and a song Ed Sheeran forgot to put on his own album led the singles from the boyband's second album, that lacked any of the tabloid charm of the group - or any great songs. One for the kids - or anyone else with low expectations from one of the biggest pop groups on the planet.

We've had a fairly mixed bag when it comes to album releases in 2012.

We've seen some young turks seizing the crowns of their respective genres and taking music in new and exciting directions, and we've seen some old masters return to the fray to remind us why we ever considered them that great in the first place.

But we've also had some fairly poor attempts at music from around the globe. For the most part these travisties have been swiftly dealt with by the record buying public and music critics alike.

But there have been a few that have soared to the top of the charts despite being collections of boring, uninteresting and, in some cases downright offensive songs.

Gigwise takes a look at 12 albums that did well in the charts, but really shouldn't have.
