Blur, Pulp and more: bands who swear to never record again

Who else has promised no more music?

Jarvis Cocker broke our collective hearts when he told NME that Pulp have absolutely no plans to make any more music. The frontman insisted that after the New Year, the band are going to just vanish into the sunset. Can we go with them?

And Jarvis isn't the only star to dash our hopes so cruelly this year. While we've seen reunions galore - let's not forget Steps, after all - that doesn't mean we're guaranteed new music. Far from it. And some of our favourite bands refuse to even entertain the idea of a tour, let alone an album.

From Blur teasing us with two new songs and then telling us that's all we're getting, to Rage Against the Machine releasing a 20th anniversary box set with no new music on it, it's been an emotional journey through 2012. And then there are those bands that we know, deep down, will never release new music - and yet, that doesn't stop us hoping. (C'mon, Morrissey - please please please let us get what we want this time?)

So take a look through our gallery, and wave goodbye to your dreams of hearing anything more from some of your favourite bands...
