- David Bowie's Glass Spider tour involved - unsurprisingly - a 40' diameter spider above the stage. It also included scaffolding on multiple levels for dancers to perform on, and Bowie would emerge from the top of the spider's head for the encore. Fabulous.

The announcement of Rihanna's 777 tour has fans in a frenzy: jumbo jets, non-stop parties and only seven days to do it all. Not only that, but the star is taking along fans and journalists alike - sleeping and partying together.
But Rihanna isn't the first musician to attempt going bigger and better on a concert tour - or to set herself ridiculous limits for doing so. We tell you about one band who played as many cities as they could in just 24 hours - and at the other end of the spectrum, another band who played over 300 tour dates in just over two years.
And that's not getting started on stage design - from giant spiders hanging over the stage to LED suits and something called 'The Claw', stars are constantly trying to outdo each other - and we're the ones who get to reap the benefits of their amazing stageshows.
