Simon Cowell claims an over-25 will not win X Factor USA?

Music mogul makes surprise statement

  • Madonna vs Lady Gaga: Lady Gaga has always cited Madonna as one of her biggest influences - so it must have come as quite a blow when Madonna began promoting her MDNA tour by criticising her young pop rival. Madonna called Gaga 'reductive' when asked about similarities between her track 'Express Yourself' and Gaga's 'Born This Way'. Madge then included a cover of Gaga's hit in her live shows, prompting Gaga to speak out about the cover at a live show in New Zealand.

"It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make mockery of their work. And that doesn't make me feel good at all," said Gaga. Later, she declined Madonna's invite to join her on stage for a duet.

Simon Cowell claims The X Factor USA will not be won by anyone over the age 25.

In a new and honest interview in the US, Cowell made the statement as he spoke openly of his opinions on the outcome of this year's show. X Factor USA is currently in its second year in America, with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato joining the panel for the new series.

US site The Examiner reports that Cowell told journalists the 'Teens' category is the strongest and that he cannot see anyone from the 'over 25s' group winning the contest.

They also claim that Cowell admitted there will be no 'wild card' contestant brought back in to this year's show.

The show's producer went on to confess that one of his biggest regrets about this year's programme was the decision to eliminate 36-year-old singer Jeffrey Gutt.

Cowell told reporters he felt Gutt was a stronger singer than anyone who is left in the over-25s category.

He also used the interview to reveal that one of this year's girl groups have been behaving like 'divas' behind the scenes of the show - although he would not name the act that he was referring to.

The 53-year-old wrapped up the interview by predicting that there would be 'meltdowns' when the live shows begin in the coming weeks.
