French fans of The Rolling Stones have been queuing in their hundreds for tickets to see the rock legends at tonight's 'surprise' gig in Paris. See the photo below.

The band's official Twitter account shared a photo of the hundreds of fans at the Champs Élysées branch of the retailer on their twitter account.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the legendary band tweeted "The Rolling Stones are playing a short warm-up gig tonight ... in Paris." They went on to add that the tickets would be available from 12pm at the Virgin megastore on Champs Elysees avenue.

Outlining details of buying tickets, it was explained that "Names will be printed on the tickets. On presentation of photo ID at the venue, ticket holders will receive a wristband. Doors open at 8pm."

The quartet also sternly warned fans not to ruin the gig by trying to broadcast events; "Mobile phones, cameras, video equipment and recording devices are strictly prohibited."

Hundreds of fans queue for just 350 tickets

Le Parisien newspaper reported the event would be held at Trabendo, a small theatre with 700 seats located in the Parc de la Villette, in eastern Paris. The publication also reported that there will be a second private gig on Monday, funded by investment company Carmignac Gestion for their employees.

The £12 tickets are quite the contrast to the prices for their 50th anniversary shows at the O2 Arena in London. All fans would have had to cough up at least £100 for one ticket but despite this the tickets for both dates sold out in seven minutes last Friday.
