The Live Lounge series of compilations has sold 2.8 million albums to date. The first Live Lounge sessions started 11 years ago on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 1 show, and they are still going strong today under the watchful eye of Fearne Cotton’s mid-morning BBC Radio 1 show, attracting performances from the best acts in the world. The tracks are live and stripped down, showing the true quality of the musicianship and craft of the song.

On 29th October “BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge 2012” is released as the seventh volume in this incredibly successful series of compilation albums and is very much a round-up of the cream of the past year’s Live Lounge sessions featuring acts such as Emeli Sandé, Lana Del Rey, Rita Ora, Plan B, The Vaccines, Mumford & Sons and more. We want all budding singers and bands out there to give us their take on a track from the album in the tradition of the Live Lounge and upload them to youtube for the judging panel to pick the best 5 which will then go to the public vote to decide who wins a session at the famous Metropolis Studios in London. Metropolis is well renowned as a world class facility, who have recorded & mixed some of the most classic artists albums of all time including Queen, The Stone Roses, The Verve, The Libertines, Lauren Hill, Amy Winehouse, Adele, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas and Rihanna.
