Sarah Brightman books seat into space on Russian spaceship

Opera star to visit International Space Station

Opera star Sarah Brightman has revealed her plans to travel into outer space, having recently purchased a ticket on a Russain spaceship to visit the International Space Station.

Brightman told reporters in Moscow "this is beyond my wildest dreams" adding "I am more excited about this than I have been about anything I have done to date."

Brightman did not disclose the price tag for the trip however, the last tourist to visit space was irque du Soleil chief executive Guy Laliberte who paid $35m for the pleasure.

The Phantom of the Opera star explained "most of my life I have felt an incredible desire to take the journey to space that I have now begun." The package includes 12 days in orbit and will be the ninth so far brokered by U.S. firm Space Adventures and is likely be carried out in 2015.

Alexey Krasnov, who is head of the ISS programme at Roscosmos, confirmed that Brightman had passed the required tests to leave the earths atmosphere and fly into space.
