Tickets for next summer's Glastonbury festival have sold out after going on sale this morning (7 October, 2012) at 9am.

Festival boss Emily Eavis confirmed that tickets were snapped up in one hour and 40 minutes, but added that disappointed music fans would get another chance to purchase tickets next April.

"Tickets have sold out in 1hr 40mins, thanks to everyone for your support and we are so sorry to those who missed out," said Eavis to her 36,000 followers on Twitter. "Sorry to everyone who missed out and for any problems you had with the booking site. There will be a resale in April."

Despite earlier claims by Eavis that a new system would ensure a smooth ticket-buying experience for next year's Glastonbury, earlier today many fans were left angry and frustrated when they were unable to purchase tickets for the 2013 event.

No bands or artists have been announced for Glastonbury 2013 although leaked information appeared to confirm Daft Punk for a performance at next year's event. Eavis previously confirmed that The Stone Roses would not be appearing, and Gigwise readers voted Muse their first choice to appear.
