All smoke, no fire? Rock and roll rumours that just won't die

The Smiths reforming? Rolling Stones tour?

  • New Daft Punk album - happening: This one crops up with alarming regularity, but while the new Daft Punk album is happening, there's been no confirmation of when we might hear new music, despite a recently revealed image suggestion the band would release an album titled No End on 3 March 2013. The band are working with Nile Rogers on their fourth studio album, but the notoriously unconvential French duo are as likely to scrap the lot as they release something new.

The Smiths have been rumoured for a reunion for next years... Hang on - haven't we been here a million times before?

News of a Smiths reunion for Glastonbury 2013 is exciting news, there's no question, but this is the same exciting news that seems to come around with alarming regularity. We're surely due for an Oasis reunion story any day now.

The Smiths are among many artists rumoured for a performance at Glastonbury 2013, but most named are more personal wishlists than likely bookings, and until there is confirmation of The Smiths, Prince or David Bowie we won't believe a word of it.

Along with Glastonbury rumours, new albums and tours from the world's biggest rock bands are continually hinted at, collaborations between pop giants and even a reconciliation for one of pop's most notorious couples. Check out the rock and roll rumours that just won't die - and the likelihood of any of them happening...
