Nelly Furtado, Kreayshawn and the biggest flops of 2012

New albums join more big name disasters

  • Alexandra Burke - Another X Factor winner who has struggled to impress after some initial chart success. New album, 'Heartbreak On Hold' limped into the UK album chart at a disappointing No.18. The record's second single 'Let It Go' also bombed after landing in at No.33, before dropping quickly to No.74. It seems the X Factor winners have a shelf life of about a year or so if they are lucky. Burke blamed her flops on the radio for lack of support after her single 'Let It Go' was pretty much ignored by stations such as BBC Radio 1 and Capital FM.

Nelly Furtado's 2012 single 'Hoops (The Bigger The Better)' was brilliant. Unfortunately, not many people appeared to agree, with the single reaching only No.14 in the UK - and missing the US charts all together.

However, the single's failure is nothing when compared to sales of her new album, Spirit Indestrucible, which sold less than 10,000 copies in the US and UK combined in its week of release. It's been six years since her last hit of note, when 'Say It Right' hit No.1 in America, and 'All Good Things (Come To An End)' reached No.4 in the UK.

Hotly tipped US rapper Kreayshawn has also struggled with disastrous album sales this week, and the pair of US starlets now join the ever-growing list of the year's biggest flops. Check out the other stars now hurtling towards the twilight years in their career long before they expected it...
