Bright Light Bright Light headlines Gigwise Presents tonight

Singer also tipped to pick up Mercury nomination

  • The Maccabees - Given To The Wild: This album hit No.4 in the UK charts this year, and served as living proof that you don''t always have to compromise to gain mass approval. Their third album does show a darker, more grown up side to the Brighton band, but keeps that twee lovability that personifies them so well. From start to finish, Given To The Wild reinstates just what it is that''s good about British indie, at a time where many were struggling to remember. Catherine Elliot

Rising singer/songwriter Bright Light Bright Light headlines an intimate Gigwise Presents live night tonight in North London.

The London-based star will perform at The Queen's Head in Angel, London on the same night that the Mercury Music Prize nominations are announced. Bright Light Bright Light is one of the favourites to pick up a nomination at this year's awards alongside the likes of Alt-J, Jessie Ware, Django Django and The Maccabees.

Odds on Make Me Believe In Hope being nominated are currently 25/1. The album is a collection of modern pop classics, inspired by a love of nineties house music.

Support at tonight's Gigwise Presents comes from rising pop singer Eric Solomon.

Tickets are on sale now through SeeTickets and Gigantic.
