Stevie Wonder says Frank Ocean is just 'confused' about sexuality

Soul legend casts doubt on star's sexuality

  • Frank Ocean, who released his debut album Channel Orange last month, posted a message on his blog detailing a failed relationship he'd once had with another man. His admission of bisexuality has garnered plaudits in the media and among other artists for its part in furthering the acceptance of homosexuality in hip hop.

Bestival headliner Stevie Wonder has cast doubt on Frank Ocean's much-talked about sexuality, saying the Channel Orange star is just is probably just 'confused'.

The soul legend has shared his opinion on Ocean's sexual preferences, which first came to attention when he penned a personal message on his Tumblr account, revealing that his first love was another man.

"I think honestly, some people who think they're gay, they're confused," said Wonder in an interview with The Guardian. "People can misconstrue closeness for love. People can feel connected, they bond."

Wonder went on to add that this didn't necessarily apply directly to Ocean or to all homosexuals. "I'm not saying all [gay people are confused]. Some people have a desire to be with the same sex. But that's them."

Frank Ocean has received a huge amount of support after his admission, with the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, 50 Cent, Beyonce, Adele, Example, Ed Sheeran and many more speaking of their support after his sexuality admission.
