Nintendo have finally been able to buy the web domain name SuperMario.com, twenty six years after the birth of gaming's most famous creation.

It was unknown who had owned the domain name before hand, but SuperMario.com had offered free playable Mario games through the website.

NintendoLife reports that, since September 25, the website is now under the control of Nintendo of America.

The website is currently down, but it is surely only a matter of time before it becomes the hub of all things Mario-related.

The domain joins Metroid.com, StarFox.com and Zelda.com, as well as a number of others, in Nintendo's ranks of domains.
