Soundgarden: 'Jesus Christ Pose' - Directed by Eric Zimmerman, the 1991 promo contained imagery deemed highly offensive by conservative Christians including burning crucifixes, a woman on the cross and a crucified skeleton. Explaining why they depicted a woman on the cross, Chris Cornell said: "It's challenging to people, because women basically have been persecuted since before recorded history, and it would almost make more sense than seeing a man on it." The Vaccines have unveiled the video for their new single 'All In White' – and with scenes of nudity and horses it's safe to say it's a little shocking.

In honour of the London's band's latest creation, Gigwise has taken a look back at other shocking music videos.

Our gallery features artists from Britney Spears to Bloodhound Gang's 'The Bad Touch', which saw band members spew vomit into each other's mouth, and the magic mushrooms of D12's 'Purple Pills'. There is also a place for The Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up' or Madonna's 'Like A Prayer'.
