His shows resulted in venues and equipment being trashed and were regularly abandoned when police were called. He self-mutilated on stage and tours left him sporting numerous broken bones. Allin was also charged with assault and battery several times and even threw excrement into the crowd. After a string of threats that he would commit suicide onstage, the mentally ill Allin eventually died of a heroin overdose in 1993.
