Sam Cooke - One of the pioneers of soul music, Sam Cooke was tragically murdered in 1964 aged just 33. Motel owner Bertha Franklin admitted that she had shot Cooke in self-defence. Cooke's body was found in Franklin's home wearing just shoes and a jacket. The killing was adjudged to be 'justified homicide.'
