Today, the music legend that is Kate Bush celebrates her 50th birthday. Her prodigious talent was discovered by Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour in the early seventies when Bush was still in her teens, she then went on to release eight albums and become one of the most celebrated music icons of the past three decades. Here we take a look at Kate Bush in pictures...

  • A young looking Kate Bush. By the age of 20, the singer had already released two critically acclaimed albums; her debut 'The Kick Inside' and November 1978's 'Lionheart.'

  • The image used on the cover to Bush's 1982 album 'The Dreaming.' The image depicts Bush re-enacting a scene from the lyrics to album track 'Houdini', in it the singer plays Houdini's wife and is holding a key in her mouth which she is about to pass to her husband.
