The beachside surf and music festival was blessed with staggering views and a solid lineup

As a regular festival goer it can sometimes find yourself neglecting more conventional holidays in favour of seeing music. Well, Boardmasters has the best of both worlds: you can see the most stunning seaside views - and catch the best up-and-coming and big bands around.

We caught Stormzy, Loyle Carner, Two Door Cinema Club - and so much more that you'll see from flicking through our photo diary. Stormzy's set in particular was special and he rose to the sense of occasion looking like a future headliner. Our reviewer Billy Campbell described praised the bookers for bringing "wide palette of life affirming, blissful music" and the crowd for being "a stellar example of the British spirit."

Now that the dust has settled, the experience still feels like a vitally brilliant addition to a festival and with so many festivals out there to choose from Boardmasters will never lose its footing. This is partly thanks to all the extra stuff like surfing and BMX-ing competitions and a beach to hang out on, it has a niche too good to dislodge.
