Rubber Soul has stood its ground as one of the best albums of all time for 50 years now. Rolling Stone ranked the Fab Four’s sixth studio album as No.5 in their 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. At 50 years old, this timeless classic hasn’t aged. In celebration of its legacy, we've rank its tracks from worst to best.
Recorded in December 1965, the album took only four weeks to make and shot straight to No.1, spending nine weeks in the chart. The title of the album was coined from the phrase ‘plastic soul’, which was given by black musicians to white musicians singing soul music, such as Mick Jagger.
Of course, any album that stands the test of time won’t contain any filler, but unfortunately, some tracks need to come in last place. Rubber Soul is jam packed with Beatles classics, and it goes without saying that those that we’ve ranked low are by no means poor tracks. Indeed, the weaker tracks on this album would be some of the better tracks on most albums since then.
