Brian Wilson has revealed why Frank Ocean and Lana Del Rey will no longer be appearing on his forthcoming album.
It was initially reported that No Pier Pressure, which is set to his shelves on April 7, was going to feature Ocean and Del Rey – with Ocean collaborating on a track called ‘Our Special Love’ ad Del Rey on ‘Last Song’.
When the official tracklist was released, though, neither name appeared, with a representative for Wilson claiming it was due to “scheduling” conflicts. Pitchfork reported the rep writing: "[Brian] really loved his voice. Maybe another time." Regarding Lana Del Rey, it was “a timing thing as well, he wanted her to come back in to do more work but scheduling didn’t allow.”
However, speaking with Vulture, Wilson has stated that scheduling was not the issue. “Well, Frank Ocean didn’t want to do the song,” he said. “He wanted to do rap, so we canceled him. Lana Del Rey, uh, she just canceled out on us.”
