Live Session: We Were Evergeen perform 'False Start'

French band perform quirky xylophone infused track in our local pub

We Were Evergreen arrived at our local pub The Fox after an arduous eight hour journey from a festival in France, tired and laiden with gear. After setting up for our live session, the band found their energy again for a performance of their new single 'False Start', a xylophone and ukele-led track documenting the psychology of sprinter Usain Bolt.

"This song is all about imagining what's going on in a racer's mind as he's doing a race and imagining he's done false starts," says frontman Michael Liot. "It's about the contrast between himself running, his body running and his mind acting against him telling him to stop. We like the idea of conflict and the song is mostly about movement which is a running theme on the whole album."

'False Start' is out now and available through ITunes and their album Towards is due out on 5 May.
