Jake Bugg has hit out at American Idol and The BRIT Awards sharing his not-entirely positive opinions on reality TV and awards ceremonies.
Speaking to BBC Newsbeat at the inaugural BBC 6 Music Festival, Bugg discussed his recent experience on American Idol. He recently featured as a musical guest in order to promote second album Shangri-La but chose to defend his spot on the show, describing it as "something a bit different for the kids on those shows".
Moving on he described how he was uncomfortable wtih the way the producers treated its contestants: "It was quite sad. We went on just before they said to the contestant 'yeah you're not through' and she was really heartbroken. It's cruel.
"It's like thanks for coming on the show but you'll never get a record contract. It's the dream smasher, that's what it is, the dream smasher."

Bugg also moved on to discuss the 2014 BRIT Awards, saying that he thought the ceremony was boring and the the categories were mismatched. "I don't mind losing out to David Bowie but how can you have a category with him in it and four people that have made one or two albums?" he said.
He also discussed the BRITs Global Success Award going to One Direction for the second time, adding: "To make up an award just so One Direction win it and turn up is a bit wrong but that's it, it's showbusiness."
