30 Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto revealed how he felt 'judged' and 'condemned' by the public when he was in drag for his role in the Oscar nominated movie.
Leto shed 40lb for the role as drag queen Rayon, choosing to never break character while the film was shooting, including during flights to and from the film set. However, when going out in public in drag, Leto reveals he felt he was being judged for his appearance.
"As pretty a woman as I thought I made - I didn't fool anyone," Leto told Shortlist magazine. ''I went to the supermarket [in drag], mainly to stare at food because I wasn't eating, and I got lots of looks. Some were just like, 'Wait, is that ... that guy from films? Dressed as a woman?'
''But I also got a look that was like, 'I don't know who or what that is, but I don't fucking like it.' A judgement, a condemnation.''

''Losing 40lb - that's not fun. Let me be clear: there's no fun making a movie like 'Dallas Buyers Club'," he added. "I don't think one joke was cracked the entire time. Obviously, there are funny bits in the film - I don't think it made the final cut ... on the whole, the process of acting can be very tedious. For this movie, I was in make-up for eight hours. Twenty minutes is annoying, y'know, but eight hours?''
The film is nominated for Best Picture at this year's alongide heavyweights such as 12 Years a slave. However it really is turning out to be a big contender, costing just $4 million to make and receiving stellar reviews from critics.
