Sheffield band making it big in America

Arctic Monkeys have scored their first number 1 on the Billboard charts, with their track 'Do I Wanna Know?' hitting the top spot on the US ranking's Alternative Songs chart.

The song, taken from their fifth, critically acclaimed album AM, rose from 2 to 1 thanks to radio support and the band's recent stint touring across the US. Alex Turner and co have had one previous entry in the chart, with their debut single 'I Bet You Look Good On the Dancefloor' hitting No.7 in 2006.

Album AM hasn't done too badly either, debuting at No.6 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in September 2013. It's the band's biggest selling album of their career, debuting at No.1 on its release in the UK and becoming one of the fastest selling albums of 2013. 

The director of marketing for Domino, Arctic Monkeys' label, expressed his gratitude at those reponsible for the Sheffield band's success across the pond. 

"The band has built a devoted fan base with persistent touring and the support of radio," said Peter Berard. "It's rewarding to see the band's dedication produce such great success. "Reaching the top of the chart thanks to programmers and stations who've championed Arctic Monkeys since ['Dancefloor'] makes it all the more gratifying."
