Marcus Mumford, Justin Timberlake, Chris Thile, Chris Eldridge and Gabe Witchers have recorded a track together for the new Coen Brothers movie.
'The Auld Triangle' is taken from the soundtrack to Inside Llewyn Davis - a film about the 1960′s folk scene in New York City, based loosely on the life of Greenwich Village folk icon Dave Van Ronk.
The soundtrack features songs performed by the cast, which includes Justin Timberlake, Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan - plus her husband and Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus, who duets with the 'Mirrors' singer for the unlikely collaboration of a cover of the traditional Irish folk song 'The Auld Triangle'.
The track swoons with the rich history and legacy that the classic folk ditty deserves, yet it is delivered in a kinda' smug and OTT fashion. Still, the movie looks good. See the trailer below.
The soundtrack is released on 11 November, 2013. Hear it in full here and hear 'The Auld Triangle' here.
