Icelandic stars Of Monsters & Men have confirmed they will begin work on their second album in August of this year.

The band were one of the standouts at this year's Glastonbury Festival, and their debut album, My Head Is An Animal this week returned to the Top 40 after their spectacular performance at Worthy Farm. The album was released in 2012 and the band have been on the road since, but are finally ready to begin work on their follow-up.

"We're just gathering ideas. We have a lot of ideas," frontman Ragnar 'Raggi' Þórhallsson tells Gigwise, admitting that life on the road has prevented work starting sooner. "We're not finding time to get it together and write it on the road, there's no privacy. After August, when we stop touring, we'll get together and do our thing."

He likened the recording process to the preparation of a snack, adding: "We have the ingredients. Now we need to make the sandwich."

Frontwoman Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir previously told Gigwise that the band's experiences on the road would influence their second record greatly, and that it would be a vastly different experience to their debut.

"My Head Is Animal sounds the way it sounds because of the mindset we were in at the time," she told us. "I think that the next album will definitely be inspired by what we've seen and what we've felt and been doing. Someone said that you bring ideas in your travelling backpack and then you get home you just open it up.

"When we made the first album we were stuck in this place where nothing ever happens. Iceland is very calm. Things just move on their own pace. Then you get out there and everything is moving so fast and everything has to happen so fast.

"It's a very different world to the one we're used to."
