Las Vegas band Imagine Dragons are pleased to see such an impressive number of rock acts in the major categories of next year's Grammy nominations.

Guitarist, Wayne Sermon told CBS: “I think it was cool overall to see how many alternative artists are getting the head nod from the Grammys.”

"It’s a cool time to be an alternative artist. It’s nice that we’re getting more and more recognition from the Academy, not that it matters, I guess.”

Stand-out alternative nominees include The Lumineers, Jack White, The Black Keys and Fun.

Imagine Dragons' frontman Dan Reynolds admitted he was a fan of most of those nominated for the 2013 Grammy Awards.

He told CBS: “I think that all of us were pretty excited seeing that fun. was up for quite a few things. Also Frank Ocean. I’m a big Frank Ocean fan, so I was happy to see that he got the nods."

Reynolds summed up the nominations with a positive gaze towards the future of rock in the mainstream. He said: "It’s good to see that rock is being revived. The days of Nirvana are coming about again, I think.”
