One Direction have rejected a massive deal to promote condoms in the US as they think it would be inappropriate.

The 'What Makes You Beautiful' hitmakers believe that many of their fans are too young to see their favourite band on that type of endorsement and will not be following in the footsteps of fellow X Factor finalists JLS, who have their faces on condom packets in the UK.

The boyband are famed for their sexual exploits across the globe - with Harry Style recently rumoured to be hooking up with US star Taylor Swift - but are unwilling to put their names to the contraception campaign.

A source close to the band told the Daily Star: "The offer was enormous and it came from one of the biggest brands in the world. While the boys didn't sneer at the money, they felt their fans were slightly too young for this type of project."

One Direction singer, Liam Payne has said he wouldn't like to endorse condoms simply for the fact that there would be too many jokes made at the group's expense.

The boys also felt it would be strange to promote dolls and video games as well as contraception.

The indsider continued: "They are promoting dolls and games, so that is the age group who are buying their products."

One Direction have been taking Madison Square Gadern by storm this week, performing to 20,000 screaming fans in New York as they grow into their status as the biggest boy band in the world.
