The Killers have topped a Gigwise poll for the band most wanted to perform at Reading and Leeds festival after tickets went on sale today (30 November, 2012).
Earlier this week, Alt-J, The Deftones, Sub Focus and Boy Better Know were confirmed to perform at next year's double-heade. In an ideal world, Gigwise readers want to see The Killers as the next name added to the line-up.
The Las Vegas band topped the poll with a strong lead ahead of nearest rival Noel Gallagher, who's High Flying Birds placed second in our readers' vote. Scottish rockers, Biffy Clyro placed third and will no doubt be a big presence on the festival scene in 2013 after the release of their eagerly awaited new album Opposites, released early next year.
Depeche Mode placed fourth, showing there is still a huge swell of support for the electronic icons while Blur placed fifth. Damon Albarn and co already have a number of European festival dates confirmed for 2013 but are yet to be named for a UK festival.
The Killers have enjoyed a huge revival in popularity in 2013 after the release of their Battle Born album, with sold out shows across the UK. Even a recent show in Manchester did little to trouble their current status, with fans supporting frontman Brandon Flowers after he was forced to quit a gig after just a handful of songs with a sore throat.
Noel Gallagher was our readers' second choice for a slot at Reading and Leeds
Meanwhile, at the bottom of the list, occasional Queen frontman Adam Lambert was the least popular choice for Reading and Leeds, receiving the lowest votes in the poll. Also placing poorly were Killing Joke, The Refused, Mars Volta and Lamb Of God.
Tickets are on sale now for Reading and Leeds festival 2013, with promoter Melvyn Benn promising a big shake up at next year's event.
Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Benn said: "We're changing the arena at Reading and Leeds quite significantly.
"I've got quite a strong buzz and feeling in myself in the changes that I'm making there. I'm still formulating the ideas.
"There will [be] quite a bit more dance music, quite a bit more other bits and pieces."
He added: "We'll have the full [set] on sale in March next year where we announce most of the bill."
