Chart topper Psy has revealed that his record label wanted him to get plastic surgery - or wear a mask, because they didn't believe he had the face for pop success.
Proving them wrong, Psy has scored the first ever No.1 single for a Korean artist in the UK this week with his smash 'Gangnam Style' and is set to repeat the success in the US. He has now spoken of record label fears prior to his rise to international fame and revealed of behind-the-scenes discussions on what to do with his face.
"The agency heard my raps and were picturing a 6ft tall, sharp-looking, trendy guy," the k-pop star is quoted in The Sun as saying. “But the CEO opened our meeting with the statement, ‘What are we going to do with this?’ Staff said, ‘How about we make him wear a cool mask?'
“Everyone was coming up with solutions to my ‘looks’ problem. They said, ‘How about a bit of plastic surgery here and there?’" he adds. "The CEO’s response to that was, ‘Just a bit?’"
"In the end they reached no conclusions and just walked out of the room."
Psy broke records when his single 'Gangnam Style' became the most liked YouTube video of all time - and again when he hit the UK No.1 spot.
