'Gangnam Style' also triumphs in singles chart

Mumford & Sons' new album 'Babel' has become the fastest selling album of 2012 with over 150k copies snapped up in its first week on sale in the UK.

The album, the second from Marcus Mumford and his band, officially sold 159,000 copies after it went on sale on Monday (Sept 24).

This figure places 'Babel' ahead of Lana Del Rey's 'Born To Die' (117k copies) and Emeli Sande, whose Our Version of Events which shifted 113k copies in a week when it went on sale earlier this year.

Other new entries in the Official Album Chart this week came from Green Day, Jonathan & Charlotte, Deadmau5, Lucy Rose, No Doubt, Deacon Blue, The Beach Boys and Steve Harris respectively.

Meanwhile, Psy is celebrating his status as the first K-Pop artist to ever have a number one in the UK Singles Chart with 'Gangnam Style' comfortably at the top ahead of The Script and Flo Rida respectively.

New entries in the UK Singles Chart this week came from DJ Fresh, Paloma Faith and Taylor Swift.
