Nicki Minaj has surprised rap fans in America by appearing to endorse Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney whilst appearing on Lil Wayne's new mixtape.

The 'Starships' rapper, not known for making political statements of any nature, appears on the freshly released mixtape on the track 'Mercy', a freestyle over the Kanye West beat of the same name.

In her verse, Nicki talks about her immense wealth and is heard saying:  "I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney, you lazy b*tches are f*cking up the economy.”

This has shocked some rap fans with many chastising Minaj for backing the controversial Republican. However, other fans have argued that the verse Nicki provides on the tape sees Nicki playing the role of a super rich American, spoofing the exact people who will be voting for Romney.

Nicki Minaj last hit the headlines after she paid tribute to Chris Lighty, the hip-hop manager who reportedly committed suicide in New York last week.

'Dedication 4' is Lil Waye's latest mixtape and features guest appearances from J.Cole and Young Jeezy. You can stream and download the whole thing for free below.
