Who really knows what their names really are, they seem to chop and change them all the time. Test Icicles play around with all the titles they can, possibly because they can’t change the one that stuck. It was an original, no longer involved, band member who coined theTest Icicles monicker.
A musical amalgamation of every sort of genre especially hardcore, metal and hip-hop; Test Icicles place ‘Slayer’, ‘Slick Pick’, and’ Lightening Bolt’ among their bigger influences.
Rory, the oldest of the three, was raised in High Wycombe, went to London to be an academic, and sings in a male voice choir, which he believes is just the beginning of bigger things. Sam was born in Miami, moved to Australia aged seven, where he grew up wanting to be a rapper but played in punk and metal bands instead, then passed through New York on his way to London. Born in Texas, raised in Edinburgh, Devonte swears listening to ‘Slipknot’ changed his life. The two youngsters are involved in the NLS (New Level Shit) crew as a part of life outside the band.
Rory and Sam loved to: Play ‘The Band Game’. This involves first choosing a name for a band, second writing appropriate tunes to suit the allocated name, third practicing freshly scribed tunes for an afternoon in preparation for step four: playing to room full of friends. Unbeknownst to the players there was also a potential prize to be won, and that’s how they got signed, four gigs into ‘The Band game’, and are still reeling in the shock of it all.
Test Icicles love to: swap roles, instruments, and vocals between jumping on speakers and swinging themselves off the rails. Warning though, these activities should not be attempted at home; Dev’s had a shard of glass speared through his foot on stage, note the stilted spring in his step.
They've supported Death From Above 1979 and the Arctic Monkeys on tour.
