Plan B was in Cannes over the weekend to launch his directorial debut iLL Manors.
The rapper turned filmmaker will release an album to accompany the film when it is released next month. He turned up to the French film festival where the world's media and movie industry have gathered.
Speaking to ITN about the gritty urban drama, Plan B said: "My music is always coming from a place, and this film came from a place where I want to talk about these issues because I feel that, no matter how negative they are, if we address them, talk about them, we can somehow learn from them.
Adding: "I don't think the film offers up a solution on how to deal with it but I definitely think it brings awareness to the subject matter."
The first trailer for iLL Manors was revealed last month.
