Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon has remembered her memories of Beastie Boys star Adam Yauch, who died earlier this week aged 47.
The Sonic Youth bass player paid tribute to his awareness as a musician as well as the fact he was not a typical rockstar obsessed with the party lifestyle.
Chatting to NME about a compliment he once paid her, Gordon said: "He told me once that he really liked the lyrics to 'Bull In The Heather'. It surprised me that he had even listened to it. It meant a lot to me that he went out of his way to tell me that, coming from such a great rapper and lyricist."
She also went on to speak about a time the pair spent in Japan, "Yauch seemed happy to hang out with me and Coco as we wandered around Tokyo, which was unusual because no one else had babies at that point. Everyone else was busy taking advantage of their precious time in Tokyo."
Other stars such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay have paid tribute to Yauch following his death earlier this week.
