The recently reformed Bloc Party have announced details of a limited edition release for this year's Record Store Day.
The band will release an exclusive 7" of the band's first ever single, 'She's Hearing Voices' along with rare original recordings of 'The Marshals Are Dead' and 'The Answer'. It will be released on red vinyl and be limited to 500 copies - as it was when the single was first released.
“Ten years ago, friends of ours were just starting to put together the idea of a record label, and the story of Transgressive is in many ways tied completely to, and a mirror image of, the story of Bloc Party," said Gordon Moakes of Bloc Party and the band's beginnings. “Slowly, our band found its feet, as did Tim's idea for a record label, and in 2004 our very first release, and also his, was unleashed: a three track vinyl 7-inch single, recorded in our rehearsal space, mixed by us on an eight-track recorder, with a sleeve I put together on an old PC in my lunch hours as a graphic designer.”
The single will be released on 21 April, 2012. Bloc Party join Noel Gallagher and White Stripes, both of whom have announced releases to celebrate the 2012 event.
