Singer Mary J Blinge has vented her anger over not being nominated for an award at this year's Oscars.

The star was thought to be a for-runner for the Best Original Song Award at this year's ceremony but was not nominated for the award. Usually each award has five nominations spots, but in a turn of events at this years ceremony only two artists were nominated, they were 'Real in Rio' from 'Rio' and 'Man or Muppet' from The Muppets.

The American singer's song 'The Living Proof' was the theme tune for film 'The Help' and was originally thought to be a favourite for the award, however an unusual twist meant that only two songs were nominated.

Mary J Blinge tweeted about her disappointment saying "I'm so thankful for true fans like you all. It saddens me & feels like the Academy is being mean. 2 only nominate 2 of the 5 slots is……." before retweeting replies from her fans over the shock announcement.

Other music heavy weights such as Madonna and Elton John were also thought to be nominated before the ceremony, however faced the same fate.

The film for which Mary J Blinge composed her song, 'The Help', did however receive a string of nominations including Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress.
