In an exclusive interview to Gigwise, The Black Keys have discussed their diva tendencies, jokingly mocked Coldplay's Chris Martin and discussed their new album 'El Camino'.
When Gigwise inquired if there were any Mariah moments during the making of their new record singer Dan Auerbach quickly shrugged and said “No”, but was cut short by fellow band member Patrick Carney who obviously thought otherwise.
“I got mad about grilled fish and threw it all over the recording console," Dan admitted.
But Patrick soon reminded him of another incident. “I thought it was the part when you pulled all the tapestries off the wall and you dumped all that incense over that engineer’s hand," he said.
“That's actually a true story – I was high," Dan responded dryly.
Asked about their many collaborations and side-projects, the Black Keys frontman responded by requesting if he could answer the question “like he was Chris Martin from Coldplay” - mockingly imitating Martin's voice and saying “We really want to progress with each record, we feel it is only human to want progress."
Auerbach continued to mimic Martin: “We deeply want to evolve with each album because it makes us feel fulfilled as human beings.”
“That's what this is all about,” they joked together. “Learning and living”.
