A Belgian choreographer has accused Beyonce of plagiarism over her new video 'Countdown'.
Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker said the singer's new effort, which you can watch below, bares a striking resemblance to two pieces she created.
She told the Antwerp radio station Studio Brussel that the video clearly borrows from her 1990 video 'Achterland' and 1983's 'Rosas Danst Rosas'.
“I’m not mad, but this is plagiarism,”she said. “This is stealing. It’s a bit rude. What’s rude about it is that they don’t even bother about hiding it.”
According to the New York Times, Beyonce has acknowledged the similarties between 'Countdown' and 'Rosas Danst Rosas'.
She said in a statement: “Clearly, the ballet ‘Rosas danst Rosas’ was one of many references for my video ‘Countdown'. It was one of the inspirations used to bring the feel and look of the song to life.”
'Countdown' is taken from Beyonce's latest album '4'.
