Island Def Jam owner LA Reid has said dropping Lady Gaga was the “worst thing” he had done.
Reid, a judge on The X Factor USA, said he was having a “bad day” when he let the star go, but admitted signing Justin Bieber weeks later helped him overcome the loss.
He told Access Hollywood: "One day this artist came to my office. She played piano and she had on white go-go boots and she played and she sang.
“When she was done I said, 'You are an amazing artist and you will change music'.
"I signed her and her name was Lady Gaga. Then a few months later I got her demos and it was a working progress and I was having a bad day. I'm telling you, I was having a bad day.”
"And you know what? I was like, 'I really don't like it, let her go and find her career'. It was the worst thing I've ever done."
"I felt bad, but I swear to you about a month later Justin Bieber came and redeemed me and so I survived it all!" he added.
