YouTube have started offering full length movies for rental to UK customers.

The rental service was launched in the US in May, and offers thousands of titles from British and American studios to rent through youtube.com/movies.

The choice is wide, varied, and on the whole very good, with recent movies like Hanna and Red Riding Hood sitting alongside classics such as Touch of Evil, Casablanca, and Charlie Chaplin's The Kid.

Films cost £2.49 for older films on a 48-hour rental, with newer titles setting people back £3.49.

Many of the titles in the Classics section are free.

YouTube business product manager Matteo Vallone said in a statement: "Britain has a long history of cinema, starting from the first moving pictures being developed on celluloid film in the UK. Now British film buffs can be part of the digital revolution too, at youtube.com/movies."

Many of the films will come with additional content to explore via the YouTube Movie Extras, offering behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, parodies, clips and remixes.
