September 30, 2011 by Alex Winehouse

A number of retail stores throughout the UK are slashing the price of FIFA 12 in an attempt to cash in on the most eagerly anticipated game of the year.

EA's latest football installment is released today (Sep 30), with chains bringing the retail price down in an effort to cash in on the craze.

MCV reports that Tesco are offering the game for £25 alongside any chart game, XBox Live membership or PlayStation Network card purchase.

Sainsbury's are charging £28.99 with any additional £30 in-store purchase, with Morrisons selling the game for £30 when bought with a chart game.

In terms of straight costs, Asda are offering the lowest deal, with the game costing £38.97, and have promised to give away a free copy of FIFA 12 with any 250GB XBox 360 purchase, which comes in at £190.

HMV are taking the approach of offering the game for just £1.99 when trading the game for a copy of F1 2011, which was released last Friday.

EA's recommended retail price is £54.99.

FIFA 12 is available worldwide on XBox 360, PC and PS3.
