Muse were dogged by a series of technical issues as they celebrated the tenth anniversary of their second album ‘Origin Of Symmetry’ at the Leeds festival tonight (August 26).
The band played the 2001 album in full, before closing their set with a series of hits from their back catalogue.
But despite weeks of preparation, their performance was not without technical problems out of their control.
The video screens surrounding the stage failed to broadcast footage of the band for much of their performance and the sound cut out briefly during ‘Hysteria’.
As Muse had promised ahead of the festival, the band arrived at Bramham Park with a customised stage set based on the ‘Origin Of Symmetry’ artwork.
Pylons surrounded the band on stage, while a huge video screen backdrop projected a variety of footage, including family videos and clips from movies including V For Vendetta.
“We’re celebrating 10 years since our second album came out, ‘Origin Of Symmetry’,” Dominic Howard said. “Fancied playing the whole thing, we’ve never f*cing done it before.”
Highlights from the ‘Origin Of Symmetry’ section of the band’s set including ‘Plug In Baby’ and ‘Feeling Good’.
After leaving the stage for a brief encore, Muse returned to perform a selection of their more recent hits, including ‘Starlight’, ‘Supermassive Black Hole’ and ‘Resistance’.
The band closed out their performance with a raucous rendition of ‘Knights Of Cydonia’, although the crowd had thinned out noticeably from since the start due to the heavy rain.
Muse will play the Reading festival on Sunday (August 28).
