Scary Movie 5 Gets A Release Date

Horror comedy to be released next year...

Scary movie is officially back. It has been announced that a fifth installment in the Scary Movie franchise will be released in April 2012.

According to Bloody Disgusting, writers have been hired to write up the script for Scary Movie 5. Although it remains unknown whether previous cast members will be returning, it is rumoured that Anthony Anderson (Mahalik), Regina Hall (Brenda) and Kevin Hart (CG) have all been asked to reprise their respective roles.

Anna Faris, who played the lead role Cindy Campbell in all four Scary Movies, has not confirmed if she will be returning to the film franchise. The actress is currently filming Sacha Baron Cohen's The Dictator alongside Megan Fox.

It has been also been revealed that The Comebacks writers John Aboud, Michael Colton, and Stephen Leff have been hired to write the script.

The first Scary Movie film, which was released in 2000 and grossed over £168 million worlwide, is said to be responsible for several other spoof films such as Date Movie, Epic Movie and Meet The Spartans.

Scary Movie 5 will be released April 20, 2012.
