Plans to name a bridge and park after Kurt Cobain in his hometown have been scrapped.
The late Nirvana frontman's home of Aberdeen, Washington were proposing to commemorate Cobain with a bridge and small public park.
However, the council in Aberdeen voted 10/1 against the re-naming and the bridge will instead will stay known as its unofficial name of Alexander Young after the pioneer, reports The Associated Press.
Eight citizens turned up to the meeting to protest against the plans, due to residents being uncertain about the idea of honouring Cobain due to his association with drug abuse and suicide.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Nirvana will release a Super Deluxe Edition of 'Nevermind' on September 27.
