Rihanna has courted controversy after she suggested she had prepared for a photoshoot by cutting down on what she ate.
The singer made the comments on Twitter in reference to an upcoming appearance in men's magazine, Esquire.
She wrote: “#RihannaNavy I shot my first cover for Esquire yesterday with Russell James #rockstarshit Not much preparation for that besides wax+starve!!”
Her comment was immediately condemned by her Twitter followers, with many saying it set a bad example for her fans.
“Starve?? why?? thats a bad message to your fans ri-ri im dissapointed,” one fan wrote.
Earlier this year, Rihanna was one of a host of music stars who attacked a former a Big Brother contestant after he launched a Twitter campaign promoting “managed anorexia”.
