Lady Gaga has used a trip to Japan to urge people to visit the country as it continues to recover from its Tsunami disaster earlier this year.

The North East of the country was rocked by an earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, which left thousands dead and others homeless.

Visiting Tokyo to promote MTV's Video Music Aid Japan event, Lady Gaga told the Associated Press: "I can't say enough to people all over the world that the majority of Japan right now, Japan in general, is very safe.

“It's fine to come here. It's beautiful."

She added that the most important thing people could do to help Japan was “boost tourism, and so everyone come to Japan and come enjoy the beautiful country”.

Lady Gaga released her new album 'Born This Way' earlier this year.
